Energy Production

Energy Production

The Muskegon County Resource Recovery Center has produced energy using a hydroelectric plant, and our on-site County landfill pumps its methane gas 6.5 miles to local industries for direct burning.

Other possibilities include generating energy from:

  • waste grease
  • storage lagoon algae
  • wind
  • corn + soybean grain
  • livestock waste (methane, electricity, ethanol, or bio-diesel)

If you have an energy idea that could take advantage of the possibilities created by the MCRRC site, contact Operations Supervisor Amelia Isitan at 231-724-3434
